SIDE EFFECTS
by Michael Weller
September 15 - October 9, 2011
Mosaic's 11th Season will open in with an intense, beautiful play which is a harrowing and unique journey, expertly plotted by playwright Michael Weller, author of Loose Ends and the seminal masterpiece Moonchildren.
Hugh and Lindy's marriage seems picture-perfect, a beacon in their microcosmic Midwestern world of dinner parties and fundraisers. But behind closed doors-doors they can barely keep shut-they're falling apart, and Hugh's rising political star is suddenly imperiled.
"One of the best plays of the year! This is a play that is a must see!."
- TIMES SQUARE CHRONICLE
"The beauty of Weller's work is that neither party is the bad guy; the play is a piercing study of a couple who are equally drawn to and repelled by each other, altogether different from Fifty Words."
- BACKSTAGE
"Weller's intense new drama is filled with emotional twists and turns."

"You don't need to be a football fan to enjoy Lombardi!"

"If you're a football fan, it's a no-brainer."
- NBC SPORTS
"I know nothing about football, but Lombardi held my interest from start to finish. An extremely well-crafted piece of intelligent theater."
- WALL STREET JOURNAL
DEATH AND THE MAIDEN
by Ariel Dorfman
March 8 - April 1, 2012 (OLIVIER AWARD WINNER FOR BEST PLAY)
Tony Award winners Glenn Close, Richard Dreyfuss and Gene Hackman starred in the original Broadway production of this political thriller. Set in an unnamed country that is, like the author's native Chile, emerging from a totalitarian dictatorship, the play explores the after-effects of repression on hearts and souls. This white knuckle thriller is a riveting intellectual and emotional tug of war.
"Magnificent... One of those rare plays which... seem to grasp the pulse of the century." - London Financial Times
"A terrifying moral thriller which combines brilliant theatricality with clear thought and fierce compassion." - London Sunday Times
"Suspenseful, riveting... [and] movingly personal." - The New York Times

by Joe Calarco
April 19 - May 13, 2012 (WORLD PREMIERE)
Made Possible by Funding Arts Broward/Knight New Work Award
A MEASURE OF CRUELTY will be loosely based on actual events of 2009 where Michael, a 15 year old boy, was doused with rubbing alcohol and set on fire by five teenagers. The story will be provocative, inspiring and touch the hearts of South Florida's local community and far beyond.
THE EDGE OF OUR BODIES
by Adam Rapp
June 7 - July 1, 2012
The Edge of Our Bodies was a tremendous hit at this year's Humana Festival and features Bernadette, sixteen, on the train from her New England private school to New York City to give her boyfriend some big news. Achingly articulate about all she can't know or control, this play captures a young woman at the threshold of vulnerability and experience.
"Rapp draws a stunning portrait... a dark and poetic coming of age story."
